Are Kegels a Bandaid Solution? | Amelia May Pelvic Health PT

Sarah Davies Episode 88

In this episode, I’m joined by pelvic health physical therapist and one of my friends, Amelia May! Amelia May is the owner of Sonder Pelvic Therapy & Wellness and a Doctor of Physical Therapy, specializing in pelvic health for the last 5 years. Before launching Sonder, Amelia served as Dallas Clinic Director at Genesis PT & Wellness and later Co-Owner of the Colorado branch, where she helped build a practice known for its whole-body, one-on-one, personalized approach to pelvic floor care.

Her work centers on more than just alleviating pain—she’s passionate about helping people feel fully supported, validated, and equipped to reclaim the activities they love. Amelia especially enjoys working with exercise enthusiasts, from CrossFit and running to Pilates and barre, helping them move with confidence through every stage of life! (which I love!)

In this episode, she breaks down the myths and misconceptions around pelvic floor health. We dive into why Kegels aren’t always the answer, how your core and pelvic floor work together during training, the changes women experience in perimenopause, and what every mom should know about postpartum healing.

Whether you’re an athlete, a new mom, or navigating perimenopause, this conversation will help you better understand your body and take simple steps to feel stronger, supported, and symptom-free.
